Lauderdale BMW of Pembroke Pines

BMW will showcase its first all-electric vehicle (named the ActiveE) at this year's International Electric Vehicle Conference (IEEE) in Greenville, South Carolina. This new, environmentally-friendly vehicle achieves zero-to-sixty in fewer than nine seconds and puts out 170 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque due to its new lithium-ion battery. The ActiveE has a range up to 100 miles when fully-charged.

It may be the dead of winter, but BMW never takes a break when it comes to producing some of the most impressive automobiles on the planet. Recently, Autoevolotion caught BMW doing some winter testing with one of its newest prototypes: the 2013 BMW M6 Gran Coupe. Though many BMW prototypes have been showing up with M body kits (thanks to the tricky automaker!), this is the real Gran Coupe, as indicated by its unique quad exhaust.

There are very few energy sources that can be harnessed for next-to-nothing. One of these is solar power. To further "green" itself, Bavarian auto manufacturer BMW has installed four-hundred new solar modules to harness the power of the sun at its Zentrum Museum, visitor's museum, and electric car charging stations in South Carolina. The modules are now in operation and will provide 240 watts each of cleaner, more sustainable power.

BMW recently announced plans to add hybrid versions of its 3- and 5-Series sport sedans.  The new sedans, named the 2012 BMW ActiveHybrid 5 and 2012 BMW ActiveHybrid 3, were introduced January 9, 2012 at the Detroit Auto Show. The ActiveHybrid 5 is slated to appear at dealerships like Lauderdale BMW of Pembroke Pines, serving the greater Miami, FL area, in the spring of 2012, while the ActiveHybrid 3 is set to arrive in fall 2012.

Sometimes the auto industry can be a gritty, head-to-head combat arena. 2011 was an interesting year for both BMW and Mercedes-Benz luxury brands, but BMW has officially been named "Top Luxury Brand" for the year. This might come as a shock to those of you that know Toyota's luxury brand Lexus has been on top for several years, but at Lauderdale BMW of Pembroke Pines, we had faith all along that the German automaker could grab the top spot.

The new BMW 328i will have a starting price of $35,795 (including destination charges), and the new six-cylinder BMW 335i will have a starting price of $43,295 (including destination charges). The new sedan only raises the existing price by about $300, a small fee for a roomier interior, a more efficient powertrain, and an increased amount of standard features.

We realized there is a lot to talk about. 2011 has been filled with a ton of "news" from the German automaker: new models, new plants, and a new division for instance. There were also several new technologies explored and invented, and new partnerships were formed.
