BMW will showcase its first all-electric vehicle (named the ActiveE) at this year's International Electric Vehicle Conference (IEEE) in Greenville, South Carolina. This new, environmentally-friendly vehicle achieves zero-to-sixty in fewer than nine seconds and puts out 170 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque due to its new lithium-ion battery. The ActiveE has a range up to 100 miles when fully-charged.

To further "green" itself, Bavarian auto manufacturer BMW has installed four-hundred new solar modules to harness the power of the sun at its Zentrum Museum, visitor's museum, and electric car charging stations in South Carolina. The modules are now in operation and will provide 240 watts each of cleaner, more sustainable power.

BMW recently announced plans to add hybrid versions of its 3- and 5-Series sport sedans.  The new sedans, named the 2012 BMW ActiveHybrid 5 and 2012 BMW ActiveHybrid 3, were introduced January 9, 2012 at the Detroit Auto Show.
