BMW M5 Gets Zero to 62 MPH in 3.7 Seconds

BMW has reveiled specs on the fifth generation M5. The new sports sedan gains a 4.4-liter, V8 engine with a TwinPower Turbo package that delivers 560 HP at 6,000 - 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 502 lb-ft between 1,500 and 5,750 rpm. With that kind of force, you'd think BMW was trying to design something that would literally fly. As such, the automaker's self-reported sprint time left many drivers a little underwhelmed.
BMW claims the new M5 can get from zero to 62 miles per hour in 4.4 seconds... The dubious folks at Car and Driver, however, didn't buy it. As such, they decided to take the new BMW M5 out for a spin, to see if BMW is just being modest.
As it happens, they are! Car and Driver was able to shave off nearly one full second from BMW's humble estimate, and clock 3.7 seconds. Of course, the reason Lauderdale BMW of Pembroke Pines is so excited to tell you this is because 3.7 seconds, albeit unofficial, not only breaks BMW's own expectations. It supersedes other "high-performance" cars out there, including the A8.

And always remember - if speed isn't your vice - we have many other new BMW luxury models to choose from that are a little, well, less intense.
