Thursday, November 12, 2009

Everyone loves a good ride and does his/her best to drive responsibly and defensively. But still there are times when one gets involved in accidents. We would like to suggest you take a few steps that can make all the difference for you, your family or friends who are involved in an accident and need help. Lauderdale BMW of Pembroke Pines, the leading dealer of new BMW cars in Pembroke Pines is happy to give you some tips to tackle post-accident negotiations. Here are some steps to be taken in the event of an accident that will help you resolve the incident without the possibility of future repercussions and provide you with a smooth insurance and repair process.

Be prepared

Understand your insurance policies. Make sure you have your insurance information -- name of provider, policy number and phone number -- in both your wallet and your glove compartment. It is recommended to always carry a disposable camera or use your Camera phone, have a pen and paper in your car at all times.

Check for injuries

Before you even look at the damage done to your car, check yourself, co-passengers, and the individual(s) in the other vehicle for injuries. If there are injuries that need medical attention, call 911.

Call the Police

Experts advise that in any accident you should call the police. Even if the other person says, "I'll take care of you; I've got a brother-in-law with a body shop that can fix your car", you still want to call. Aa police report will provide an official record of the accident. If you're on an interstate highway, call county or state law enforcement. Be sure you get the police report.

Call insurance company

Contact your insurance provider about the accident and provide all details regarding it.

Gather info

Be sure to get the name, contact information, and insurance information of the other driver. Take photos of surrounding area, traffic signs lane markings and the damage to vehicles involved. Also write down the details of the accident.

Don't admit guilt

Even if the accident was your fault, simply collect contact information from the other drivers and do not confess to anything until you speak with your insurance company.

Keep track of repairs

You don't have to leave it all to your insurance company. Request that your vehicle be taken to your Lauderdale BMW Collision Center for the repairs. Make sure you have the right to have original manufacturer parts put in. See more information on our website with suggested Towing companies in your area as well.
